The Dress / by brandonkeithphotography

Happy weekend! Today I wanted to talk about something every girl dreams about.. the DRESS. Some may have two dresses (one for the ceremony and one for the reception) I wanted to go over a few major points that they don't warn you about before dress shopping.

  1. Budget.Budget.Budget: This is the word that has probably replayed in your mind a few times thus far. Discuss this with your fiance and parents and get a ball range price nailed down on what is do able when it comes to your dress.

  2. Before you set up apppointments to try on dresses make sure you ask if they have a good selection of gowns in your budget.

  3. Please, please once you find “the gown” ask if they have a “90 day payment program”. Most dress shops do have some sort of payment plan to accommodate you.

  4. Ask your bridal consultant if they offer a discount if you purchase the gown right off of the rack. (most places will offer some sort of discount) The off the rack gowns may have a bead or two loose but the bridal salon should fix that with no charge.

  5. Step out of the box. Lets say that you have a teeny tiny budget to set aside for your gown. That is A-OK. Try your moms gown on, yes I mean the one with the poofy sleeves. Get in your visionary zone and see if there is any way to make it your style. Call a few alterations places and bring it in there and ask for a quote to re-design the dress. Re-design sounds like an expensive word. Sometimes it may only need a hem and to re-design the sleeves. It is worth a shot.

  6. Thrifting...”WHAT? You think I am going to find my wedding gown second hand?!!”

ladies, ladies, calm down! You would be amazed at the amount of wedding gowns (in mint condition) that get tossed to goodwill. Here is a list of a few places I would recommend you to check out if you are on a tight gown budget.

  • Goodwill

  • Ebay

  • Facebook marketplace

  • Local thrift stores

Ladies, I hope you gained some knowledge reading this and are ready to find your perfect gown! Please, if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment below.
